Crisis in American Nursing
 At this time, the U.S. is experiencing a critical
shortage of medical personnel.By 2010, according to experts in the
U.S., there will be up to 1 million vacant medical positions.This is due to a
crisis in American nursing education, and because the need for nurses is
growing at a faster rate than the ability to provide them. Also, states are now
requiring maximum ratios of nurses to the number of patients on a given
ward, further challenging the existing workforce.As a result, hospitals are forced to close entire wards, new hospitals delay opening, and patients are put at risk due to staff shortages.At the same time, the need for medical care in the U.S. is growing.Therefore, the American medical establishment has increasingly looked for qualified medical personnel abroad, and this phenomenon continues to grow. |
